One person sent to hospital after house fire in South Vancouver

An investigation is ongoing.

One person was sent hospital after a fire in South Vancouver earlier this week.

The fire occurred at a house in the 600-block of East 65th Street near the intersection with Fraser Street the night of Feb. 26, according to a tweet from Fire Chief Karen Fry.

It sent one person to hospital and displaced eight people living in the house, she notes.

"Cause of fire under investigation," she writes. "A good reminder to check your home for working smoke alarms."

When asked for more information Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) directed V.I.A. to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD).

"The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and we are working with Vancouver Fire," states Const. Tania Visintin in an email to V.I.A. "One person was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries."

She adds that the investigation is in the early stages currently and it hasn't been determined whether it was suspicious or not.
