Woman in critical condition after being struck by impaired driver in Vancouver

The driver's blood alcohol concentration was "over twice the legal limit."

The VPD Traffic Unit said that a female pedestrian was struck by an impaired driver in Vancouver early Saturday morning.

A woman was taken to hospital after being struck by an impaired driver early this morning (April 8).

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) tells V.I.A. that officers were alerted just before 1 a.m. that a woman was hit by a car and lying on the road near Main and East Hastings streets. 

She was taken to hospital and remains in critical condition. 

The driver was located nearby and has been charged with multiple impaired driving offences.

A tweet by the VPD Traffic Unit notes that his blood alcohol concentration was "over twice the legal limit."
