When you think of the level of energy, detail and sophistication that goes into attracting customers to a business these days – then you look at this sign from 1958.

This photo from the City of Richmond Archives department shows how simple it was back in the ‘50s.

Simply erect a giant rooster on your roof, point some arrows to your restaurant and invite people to “Dine.” Easy.

According to the city’s archives department, the sign belonged to the Rooster Café, on the east side of No. 3 Road, south of Westminster Highway.
