Playland will reopen for the summer season starting the evening of June 11.

Vancouver's iconic amusement park announced Tuesday (June 1) its plan to re-open, citing the B.C.'s restart plan as well as approval from local health authorities.

Playland previously delayed its original opening date (May 1) in an effort to support the provincial circuit breaker when cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) were soaring in B.C.

The park will be operating with significantly reduced capacities, physical distancing, enhanced cleaning procedures, and masks will be required on rides, games areas, and in all queue lines.

Tickets are limited and date-specific. Guests are asked to book their ride passes in advance, to ensure their preferred dates are not sold out. Admission includes unlimited rides for your specific date/time slot.

Playland will be open From June 11 until Sept. 12. The schedule of operating dates and hours will expand to more days and nights, later this summer.

PNE cancelled: Vancouver's Pacific National Exhibition 'not possible' again in 2021

While Playland is once again finding ways to welcome guests this summer, the pandemic has sidelined the Pacific National Exhibition for a second year in the row.

The PNE announced early May that even a modified, lower capacity in-person fair will not be possible in 2021. As the largest employer of youth in the province, the PNE is a first job employer for generations of British Columbians. In total, the PNE employs 4,300 direct and up to 9,500 indirect jobs, including 4,200 CUPE 1004 members.
