Update: Police close downtown Vancouver street after pedestrian struck (VIDEO)

They suffered "serious injuries"

Police have blocked a section of Cambie Street between Nelson Street and Pacific Boulevard this morning after a pedestrian was struck.

Police tape is blocking traffic in both directions and investigators are on the scene. The pedestrian has been taken for care after suffering serious injuries.

Earlier today, March 8, police had cordoned off a blue Volkswagen camper van that appeared to have been in a collision; the tires were flat, the windshield was smashed and a tree was stuck underneath. Dirt and debris were strewn across both sides of Cambie Street near the vehicle and police tape was up around it.

Investigators on the scene canvassed local businesses, laid down markers, and took photos of the area. A drone was spotted above the scene.

On March 10 police issued a press release noting they believe alcohol may have been a factor and are seeking witnesses.
