Investigators have footage of a knife attack in Ambleside Park that left a teen with serious injuries last weekend, but West Vancouver police are again appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, two groups of young people got into an altercation just east of the skate park. The 17-year-old victim was slashed with a knife resulting in severe “life altering” lacerations, said Cont. Kevin Goodmurphy.

Police arrested four suspects nearby and investigators have collected some video evidence from witnesses at the scene.

But Goodmuprhy said there were about 20 to 30 people who saw the assault but have not yet come forward.

“More is better,” he said. “We need the best evidence and in our minds, the best evidence is going to come from those that were closest.”

The suspects were later released pending charges. Police want to speak with every witness possible before the Crown lays charges, Goodmurphy said, to help ensure a conviction.

“If you saw what took place, if you captured cell phone footage, if your dash cam captured images either before or after 6:15 p.m. on Saturday night, or if you know anything about this incident, please get in touch with us,” Goodmurphy said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 604-925-7300 and reference police file number 20-4833. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or visit solvecrime.ca.
