Prince George Gymnastics Club vaults to podium performances at Winterfest meet

Gold for Oburg, Best Choreography honours for Bricker

Aspiring gymnasts from B.C.’s northern capital showcased some strong talents in B.C.’s lower mainland.

This past weekend, members of the Prince George Gymnastics Club competed in Coquitlam for the province’s annual Winterfest Meet, earning three medals, including gold by Kaylee Oburg in her age group.

Each competitor had to participate in four disciplines, accumulating points for an overall score, and the 15-year-old finished first in the vault, balance beam, and parallel bar events.

Sadie Bricker also landed a prestigious honour at the meet.

Her technique and originality on the floor won the judges over and received the award for Best Choreography.

This was also Bricker’s first meet at a new level of gymnastics difficulty.

In the 2003-2005 category, Emma Movold and Delany Soares won silver and bronze respectively, finishing first in the vault and parallel bar events.

Movold also received high praise from Gymnastics BC, winning the Most Dynamic Vault award.

The Prince George Gymnastics Club will travel to Langley for the Christy Fraser Memorial Invitational meet from Feb. 15 to 17.
