In-person volunteer information sessions are back after a hiatus at a Burnaby-based facility that houses puppies and trains them as assistance dogs.
Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS), a group that’s been breeding, raising and training certified assistance dogs that help people with mobility issues or post-traumatic stress disorder for over 35 years is hosting its first in-person spring volunteer info session. It's slated for Saturday, March 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. at its Burnaby location (9048 Stormont Ave.).
Anyone — whether just browsing around or hoping to volunteer — is welcome to attend the session.
The session will offer insight on different programs and volunteer opportunities. Guests will be able to tour the facility, meet current volunteers with PADS puppies-in-training, and see a service dog skills demonstration.
"This is a good opportunity for people who love dogs and have been thinking about volunteering with us but do not know where to start," said Meredith Areskoug, marketing and media co-ordinator for PADS.
Some light refreshments will also be provided. Space is limited, so interested folks are encouraged to RSVP as soon as possible.
