Rain and flurries dominate week ahead in Vancouver

Get ready for classic Vancouver winter weather

The week will start off sunny and bright in Vancouver, but it won't be the trend throughout the week ahead.

Grey winter weather will dominate early December after a couple of nice days this weekend, according to Environment Canada, though things will trend warmer as the week goes by.

Monday (Dec. 5) will be the nicest day of the week, according to the federal agency, which forecasts a sunny day, though cool. A high of just 2 C will come in the late afternoon, with clouds rolling in. In fact, the morning may feel quite cool, with windchill making it feel like -9 C early in the day.

In the evening, the clouds will set in and there'll be a chance of flurries as temperatures drop to -2 C.

Tuesday will see the beginning of the rainy trend, though it'll still feel cold. The daytime will see a high of 1 C with a chance of flurries and showers. In the evening the precipitation should ease, and the temperature is only expected to drop to 1 C overnight.

Wednesday sees the biggest bump in temperature, and a return to nearly average for Vancouver this time of year (around 6 C) with a high of around 4 C. Showers and rain are expected throughout the day and evening. Overnight, it will only drop to 3 C.

Thursday will likely be the warmest day of the week, with a high of 5 C, though it's forecast to be rainy throughout the day. Overnight the precipitation will remain as temperatures drop to 0 C, which means some of the showers may become snow flurries.

Friday will see those showers remain with a high of 4 C. In the evening, that'll drop to -1 C, and again that'll mean showers mixed with snow flurries.
