Update: Residents in path of rapidly-growing wildfire put on evacuation alert

The Cariboo Regional District has put 25 landowners in the path of the rapidly-growing Tzenzaicut Lake fire southwest of Quesnel on an evacuation alert.

The affected residents are encouraged to be prepared to leave immediately and to move pets and livestock to a safer location.

The B.C. Wildfire Service is now reporting the out-of-control fire has grown to 116 hectares in size.

The Cariboo Regional District issued an evacuation order late Saturday night for residents on three remote parcels of land in the path of the Tzenzaicut Lake fire southwest of Quesnel.

The out-of-control fire was discovered Saturday afternoon and the B.C. Wildfire Service estimated the fire is now 44 hectares in size as of Sunday morning.

Due to immediate danger to life and safety due to fire, members of the RCMP were helping affected residents leave the area for Quesnel.
