A Richmond charity has raised close to $30,000 to support the victims of the recent wildfire which all but destroyed the village of Lytton.

The Rotary Club Of Steveston-Richmond and other three other Rotary Clubs in Richmond have been rallying support to help evacuees, who are being housed in Merritt, Hope, Kamloops and Kelowna.

The club had raised nearly $30,000, as of July 15. These funds have been converted into gift cards to provide care and support to people in need.

The club will continue to accept donations until mid or long-term plans are in place for evacuees, according to the media release.

For people who would like to make donations, please indicate in your e-transfer that your donation is for BC Wildfire Relief 2021. Also, tax receipts are available on request. E-Transfers can be made  to: [email protected].
