Richmond fire at Mitchell Island on Monday afternoon

A fire broke out on Mitchell Island in Richmond Monday afternoon.

Matt Blair, who was passing by, said the lumber plant was on fire with flames visible from Knight Street Bridge.

Blair commented that he Richmond Fire-Rescue had an "excellent response" to the fire and "had it under control."

Knight Street Bridge traffic was not affected.
