Sections of Stanley Park Seawall remain closed following windstorm (VIDEO)

So far there is no estimate as to when the work will be completed
Damaged seawall
A cracked and crumbling footpath along the Stanley Park Seawall is a result of the recent windstorm that smashed Metro Vancouver earlier this week.

The storm that wreaked havoc across southern B.C. earlier this week also managed to take away one of Vancouver’s favourite footpaths.

A video uploaded to social media shows chunks of the wall are missing and the asphalt footpath cracked and crumbling in one section. The damage was confirmed to be a result of the recent storm by the Vancouver Park Board which is now working to repair the section and clean up debris.

In the storm’s aftermath, the Vancouver Park Board closed the Seawall between Third Beach and English Bay. No announcement has been made to reopen the section.

The Park Board did not give a timeline for when repairs would be completed.

Scaling of the rocky slopes along the Seawall is also being done to reduce risk of rock and debris slides onto the seawall pedestrian and cycling path.
