'Serious assault' in Downtown Vancouver leaves three hospitalized

There is no ongoing public safety risk, say police.

Vancouver police are investigating an incident that closed the intersection of Nelson and Granville streets Thursday night (March 2).

A "serious assault" occurred around 7:30 p.m., according to VPD, and three men have been taken to hospital.

The men, all in their early 20s, got into a an argument in the west lane of Granville Street at Nelson that escalated and resulted in all three being stabbed.

They were rushed to hospital by ambulance and are expected to survive. Police say the three suspects are known to each other and the investigation remains ongoing.

There were as increased police presence in the area last night as officers managed the scene and canvassed for evidence.

The intersection of Nelson and Granville streets was closed as police investigated and yellow police tape sections off the alley nearby. 

Police say there is no ongoing public safety risk.
