Extensive delays were reported at some SkyTrain stations

After a snowstorm on Jan 5, Vancouverites woke up to 20 cm of snow in some areas. The snow has impacted roads and Transit routes causing extensive delays.

Vancouver locals took to social media this morning to report the various road conditions and transit delays across the city following the latest snowstorm.

On Jan. 6 Vancouverites woke up to 20 cm of snow in some areas, an amount that appears to have wreaked a good deal of havoc. As a result, locals have shared their experiences with some of the delays on the city's roadways and transit routes.

The same morning TransLink addressed delays on one of the SkyTrain lines.

"Due to ice buildup on the SkyBridge, Expo Line is experiencing longer wait times. We have de-icing trains out on the system addressing the issues and we thank customers for their patience," TransLink stated.

Some reported long lines of delayed busses around the city as well.

There are other areas though that were more successfully cleared, a fact one resident called a "small miracle."

The conditions have led to Environment Canada encouraging Metro Vancouver residents to postpone non-essential travel today. On-campus classes for many post-secondary institutions have been cancelled and schools, as well as daycares within the Vancouver School District, have been closed.
