Delta Police were involved in a Saturday night shooting spree that also included three other locations in Surrey.

A suspect is in custody following a weekend shooting spree in Surrey and North Delta.

Surrey RCMP is investigating three separate files from Saturday night where shots were fired.

The three reports of shots fired that occurred on Saturday include: at 8:19 p.m. in the 6900-block of 127A Street; at 10:27 p.m. in the 12900-block of 73A Avenue; and 10:56 p.m. in the 6600-block of 132 Street.

In addition, Delta Police responded to a report of shots fired on Saturday, at 11:33 p.m. in the 7900-block of 114A Street that is believed to be connected to the three Surrey incidents.

“Our frontline patrol officers and violence suppression team members responded immediately to the report of shots fired,” says Cris Leykauf, spokesperson for Delta Police. She notes the Delta dog unit also assisted in the search for evidence.

“While the shots fired resulted in some damage to vehicles and a residence, thankfully nobody was injured,” added Surrey RCMP media relations officer, Cpl. Vanessa Munn. “All four incidents are believed to be connected to one suspect who is now in custody.”

Just past midnight on August 8, a 28-year-old male suspect was taken into custody by police. The investigation is in its early stages, and police have not yet established a motive for these incidents. However, they are not believed to be linked to a Lower Mainland gang conflict.

Officers are canvassing the neighbourhoods and speaking with witnesses to obtain further information.
