Someone in Burnaby won a ginormous share of a Super Bowl 50-50

Was it you?

The Super Bowl game Sunday between Kansas City and Tampa Bay wasn’t just a big victory for quarterback Tom Brady and the Bucs.

It was a big win for someone in Burnaby.

A Burnaby was the biggest winner in BCLC’s Super Bowl 50-50 draw.

Here's a breakdown of the prizes:

Burnaby - $89k
Grand Forks - $55k
Prince George - $73k
Okanagan - $69k
Someone out there is holding a big victory ticket that will be welcome news amid all the COVID-19 pandemic news.

Speaking of sharing a prize, a Metro Vancouver resident is over $4 million richer thanks to a "spur of the moment" decision to purchase a lottery ticket in which the overall $8.4 million prize is being split.

Eileen Bevis, who lives in Langley, says she popped into a Save-On-Foods on Fraser Highway in Algergrove to pick up a couple of items. While she was there, she purchased a lottery ticket for a game she "rarely plays."

"It was just spur of the moment," explains Bevis, who typically plays Lotto Max, but decided to give Lotto 6/49 a try that day, purchasing a $10 Lotto pack.

That spontaneous decision changed the course of the Langley resident's life, as she won a cool $4.2 million from the Jan. 23 Lotto 6/49 draw.

Bevis’s ticket and one other purchased in Quebec both matched all six numbers from the late-January draw to win $4.2 million each. The odds of winning a Lotto 6/49 jackpot are 1 in 13,983,816.
