Vancouver is going to have sunny, hot weather later this week.

Fans of sunshine and warm weather will get what they've been waiting for in a few days.

While this week is expected to start cloudy and damp, according to Environment Canada, it's going to get hot quick with plenty of sunshine by the weekend.

Rain is forecast overnight Sunday, but that should be the last of the serious precipitation for a little while. Monday morning will see a mix of sun and cloud with showers with a high of 12 C in the afternoon. This will turn to drizzle in the evening as temperatures drop to 6 C.

Tuesday, April 25, will see gradual transitions to clearer weather. However, it'll get cold before it gets warm, with overnight temperatures dropping as low as 4 C Tuesday night.

Wednesday is expected to be the first of the dry days with a high of 13 C, in addition to some clouds, but no precipitation forecast.

In the evening, the skies will continue to clear as overnight lows drop to 6 C.

The warming trend will be noticeable on Thursday, with sunny skies across Metro Vancouver and a high of 16 C. At the same time, it won't get as cool overnight, with a low of 10 C predicted.

By Friday, temperatures are expected to peak at 21 C with sunny skies.

Heading into the weekend, the clear skies, warm temperatures and sunshine (during the day) will continue, with a low of 11 C Friday night and a high of 22 C on Saturday, April 29.
