This long weekend may be the hottest and sunniest weather Vancouver may have this week.

Environment Canada's heat warning issued on Monday (July 25) is expected to sizzle down starting the day after the long weekend. Temperatures will embark on a "cooling trend" with a chance of showers sprinkled into the forecast.

The heat warning is still in effect until Sunday (July 31).

The forecast for Metro Vancouver calls for highs of 28 and 26 degrees on the coast and 33 and 32 degrees inland over Saturday (July 30) and Sunday (July 31) with clear skies and sunshine. The temperatures will gradually lessen by a degree, with Monday (August 1) expecting a high of 25 degrees on the coast and 29 degrees inland, and Tuesday (August 2) having a high of 24 degrees.

Chance of rain is expected to start on August 3, predicting cloudy skies with around a 30 per cent chance of rain and a high of 21 degrees. The next day will be similar, with a 60 per cent chance of rain and a high of 20 degrees.

The end of the week leaves hope for more sun thanks to an expected mix of sunshine and clouds and a high of 21 degrees.
