TransLink driver reports spotting 'grenade' on his bus

Bridgeport Station was closed briefly on Sunday after a TransLink driver reported seeing a grenade on his bus late that morning.

An explosive disposal unit was called to the scene and discovered a possible grenade, which was seized and transported.

According toMetro Vancouver Transit Police, the suspected grenade was spotted in a man's grocery cart by the bus driver around 11 a.m.

During the time of the incident, trains were suspended at Bridgeport Station.

Skytrain riders were required to transfer at Marine Drive Station to switch trains heading to Vancouver International Airport or Brighouse Station.

The station's bus loop was closed to vehicles and people at the time, but Canada Line and bus services resumed after the incident was cleared.
