A Thanksgiving-themed race is getting ready to take off.
The annual Granville Island Turkey Trot race will have costumed Vancouverites trekking along the seawall in a few weeks.
Starting at 8:30 a.m., the 10 kilometre race kicks off on Thanksgiving Monday (Oct. 10) and participants can either run, walk, or stroll to Granville Island. Those unable to make it can participate in a virtual race Oct. 1-15.
The race supports local food banks via donations or fundraisers from runners.
All participants get Lee's Donuts, a 16 ounce sleeve of beer, free parking on the race day, a race bib, and medal. There are also prizes for the best costume and largest team, so prune your feathers and gather your flock.
