Police are investigating a daylight shooting in Burnaby's Metrotown area Monday.

Police are looking for witnesses and dashcam video after a shooting that sent a 59-year-old man to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Monday.

Police got reports of an injured person near Patterson Avenue and Hurst Street, close to the Ocean View cemetery, at about 11:20 a.m. according to a Burnaby RCMP news release.

When police arrived, they found an injured man with what appeared to be gunshot wounds, the statement said.

The man was conscious and breathing when he was taken to hospital, according to police.

The investigation is in its early stages, but police said the shooting appears to have been targeted.

“There does not appear to be any ongoing risk to the public. The victim is known to police,” the release said.

Burnaby RCMP is working with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU), the province’s anti-gang squad, to determine if the shooting is tied to the Lower Mainland gang conflict or organized crime, according to the release.

Burnaby RCMP has not identified the victim, but the Vancouver Sun has reported he was Ronaldo Lising, a full-patch member of the Hells Angels.

Witnesses or drivers with dashcam video from the area of Patterson Avenue and Hurst Street from around 11:20 a.m. on Monday are asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999. Quote file number 22-21966.
