Homicide investigators attended a Richmond home after two individuals were found dead.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is investigating the death of two individuals inside a Richmond home.

Richmond RCMP responded to a report of a deceased female inside a Terra Nova home in the 6500 block of Barnard Drive, near Westminster Highway and No. 1 Road, on Sunday, Feb. 20.

The bodies of a 43-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl, who are related, were found inside the home, according to IHIT in a media statement.

IHIT was called in and has since taken over the investigation with the assistance of Richmond RCMP, RCMP forensics and the BC Coroners Service.

Homicide investigators believe this is an "isolated incident" and no other suspects are involved at this time.

The victims are not being identified as family members are being notified.

“The effects of this tragedy are being felt by the entire community,” said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT.

“Anyone in need of assistance is encouraged to call the Richmond RCMP’s Victim Services.”

There are no public safety concerns at this time, says IHIT.

In the meantime, anyone with information regarding the investigation can contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or email [email protected]
