There have been three fatal traffic accidents in the span of 48 hours as of Monday, July 31, 2023, according to Vancouver police.

Following a fatal collision Monday morning (July 31) which left a 26-year-old Uber driver dead and seven injured, Vancouver Police have released a statement saying that there have been three fatal traffic incidents in the last 48 hours.

On July 29, two other fatal accidents both involving pedestrians occurred in Vancouver.

In East Vancouver, a 30-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing Kingsway near Taunton Street.

"Investigators believe she had just parked her car and was crossing mid-block to meet a group of people at a nearby restaurant when she was struck by a silver Toyota Yaris shortly after midnight," says VPD in a press release.

The driver of the Yaris was heading west on Kingsway and did remain at the scene.

Earlier in the day, around 4:40 p.m. a 76-year-old woman was crossing Arbutus St. at W 15th Ave. when she was struck by a grey pickup truck.

The victim was rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries. The pickup driver also remained at the scene, and VPD believe that neither speed nor impairment were factors.
