Several Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation operated attractions have been closed due to severe winter weather.

Some of Vancouver's favourite attractions have closed due to weather today (Feb. 28).

In addition to TransLink suspending service on 10 routes because of road conditions and a two seperate closures of Lions Gate Bridge, two major Vancouver attractions run by the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation have announced today that they will be closed.

VanDusen Gardens and Bloedel Conservatory in Queen Elizabeth park have closed due to snow accumulation and "sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," saying, "the safety of our visitors and staff is our top priority."

The Parks Board has also just announced that Stanley Park is closed to the public due to hazardous snow and ice conditions. "Our crews will continue to monitor conditions throughout the day and we will reopen as soon as it is deemed safe to do so," reads their Tweet.

As a result the Vancouver Aquarium will be closed today and tomorrow.

The Lions Gate Bridge was closed in the northbound direction at Denman Street due to multiple stalled vehicles in the causeway. It reopened and has since closed again. People are being told to expect major delays from congestion and perhaps take an alternate route.

50 flights out of YVR have also been cancelled but as of now, UBC and Science World remain open.
