Vancouver firefighters extricated a person from a burning vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.

Vancouver Fire Rescue Service (VFRS) spokesperson Matthew Trudeau said crews with three fire apparatuses responded to a vehicle on fire inside a building on the north side of the 300-block of W Kent Avenue just before noon.

Firefighters removed the person from the burning vehicle and quickly knocked down the fire. The individual suffered injuries to their leg but the severity is unknown, he said.

Fire investigators are on scene working to determine the cause of the fire. Traffic may be affected on Kent Ave near Yukon and Manitoba.

Trudeau said VFRS will provide updates when more information becomes available.
