Vancouver police find pistol, drugs after traffic stop while on patrol

Police in Vancouver arrested a 27-year-old man after find drugs and a gun.

A pair of police officers out on patrol made an arrest earlier this week after spotting a conversation through an open car window.

The two Vancouver Police Department (VPD) officers were in East Vancouver on Monday, April 4, when they spotted a car stopped near the intersection of Commercial Drive and East 4th Avenue.

"They spotted an unlicensed driver speaking to another man through the open window of his vehicle," states the VPD in a press release. "When the officers stopped to investigate, one of the men tried to walk away and stash a bag inside a second car that was parked nearby."

The officers followed that man and when conducting a search found a 9mm pistol, ammunition and illicit drugs.

A 27-year-old East Vancouver man was arrested at the scene for possession of a weapon and drugs.
