There is some seriously stormy weather in the forecast...but how long will it last?

The Environment Canada Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes a mix of precipitation through the first weekend of April 2023, but the sun is expected to return.

Make sure you soak in some sunshine today.

The Metro Vancouver forecast includes plenty of dismal, wet weather over the weekend, including the possibility for snowfall at higher elevations in some areas.

Starting on Thursday, March 30, Environment Canada calls for mainly sunshine during the day and a high of 13 C. But the sunny streak is expected to end heading into Thursday night, as increasing cloudiness provides the ideal stage for raindrops to start falling in the region.

Rain is expected to continue overnight and into Friday morning. Wind blowing 20km and gusting up to 40 km/h expected is also expected Friday morning. Showers are expected overnight Friday, while Saturday's forecast includes a 60 per cent chance of showers.

Environment Canada meteorologist Derek Lee told V.I.A. in a previous interview that parts of the Lower Mainland may see some rain mixed with wet snow Friday morning, particularly places over higher terrain.

"The freezing levels are going to be lower over the weekend," he said, noting that places above 300 to 500 meters may even have some accumulation of snowfall, although they would be modest amounts.

There may also be some thunderstorms Sunday, as cold air aloft mixes with warm surface temperatures and creates an unstable atmosphere, Lee explained.

But sun-seekers may get to bask in the warmth of some golden rays by next week, provided the forecast doesn't change.

Monday and Tuesday are currently expected to see a mix of sun and cloud with double-digit highs of 10 C and 12 C, respectively.
