The Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes a snowfall warning for parts of the region on Friday, March 3.

A snowfall warning is in effect for parts of Metro Vancouver as a pacific frontal system approaches the south coast.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning Friday (March 3) morning, calling for five to 10 cm of snowfall in North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Coquitlam, and Maple Ridge.

Snow is expected to be at its heaviest late this afternoon and evening before "tapering off to periods of light snow after midnight."

The City of Vancouver isn't included in the warning, but the forecast includes rain mixed with wet snow and up to 2 cm of snowfall at higher terrain.

The snow is expected to stop falling by Saturday morning.

Drivers should prepare for "poor travel conditions" due to localized pockets of heavy snow flurries. Visibility may be "suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow," warns the national weather forecaster.
