Video: Police release footage of wanted suspect in East Vancouver homicide

Vancouver police are hoping people recognize the person in the short clip

Vancouver police are hoping video footage of a homicide suspect might help in their investigation.

Zhuwen Gong was stabbed to death a year ago, on Nov. 2, 2022. The 37-year-old man was attacked while walking in East Vancouver at Renfrew and Graveley streets. It's unclear what the motivation for the attack was, and it may have been random, states the VPD.

“Mr. Gong was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries," states Const. Tania Visintin in a press release. "We’ve worked for the past year to secure and analyze evidence, however, a suspect has not yet been identified and we’re again asking for the public’s help to solve this crime.”

Police have witness statements and canvassed the area around the scene of the attack; they've also collected video from the area and are now, a year after Gong's death, sharing some of the footage.

“We are releasing video footage of what is believed to be the suspect walking away from the crime scene,” adds Const. Visintin. “We are asking the public to take a good look at the footage, if you know who this suspect is, or have any information that could assist investigations, please call.”

Anyone with information about the suspect's identity and/or the case can call the VPD at 1-604-717-2500.
