Vancouver police have released a security video of a knife assault that occurred last weekend (Oct. 15) in the hopes the victim will come forward.
Around noon on Saturday, a man threatened another with a knife in an alcove on West Cordova and Richards streets downtown. A witness called 911 to report the two men fighting when the altercation moved into the street. Both men left the area before police arrived.
It did not appear that either was injured but the video does indicate that the assailant was trying to take the victim's backpack.
“Even when we identify the man with the knife, challenges still exist because the victim left and hasn’t reported the incident to police,” says Const. Jason Doucette in a news release. “We’d like to hear from the victim to provide support and learn more about what happened.”
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the VPD at 604-717-8966 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
