A cold snap is headed for Metro Vancouver.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the region on Jan. 26 calling for arctic air to invade B.C. over the weekend.
Temperatures will drop as low as 10 degrees below the normal for this time of the year; averages for Metro Vancouver in late January fall between highs of 6.6 C and lows of 0.7 C.
Along with the chill and wind, a chance of flurries is expected in the forecast.
On Saturday (Jan. 28), the forecast includes a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 7 C during the day with skies clearing and temperatures falling to minus 5 C overnight. Sunday through Monday is expected to see sun and a high of 2 C.
Monday (Jan. 30) will be cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries and temperatures dipping to 0 C overnight.
The forecast is expected to remain cloudy on Tuesday (Jan. 31) with a 60 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers. Wednesday (Feb. 1) through Friday (Feb. 3) will see rain and an average of 6 C during the day.
