Batten down the hatches today, as a severe wind warning has been issued for Richmond and other coastal regions of the Lower Mainland.
Environment Canada issued the warning in the early hours of Tuesday, with gusts of up to 70 km/h expected by evening.
The wind is forecast to pick up around noon and worsen as the day progresses as an “intense system” sweeps across from Vancouver Island.
The front will also bring rain for most of Tuesday, before easing later this evening as the front passes.
Environment Canada said damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur, as well as the possibility of damage to trees.
