You can now plan transit routes using these new digital kiosks at Tri-City stops

Live schedules, departure times and route alerts can be navigated at seven local transit hubs to keep commuters updated.

Transit riders in and out of the Tri-Cities may soon notice several new touchscreens at local stations.

TransLink has completed its latest initiative in hopes of ensuring smoother commutes for all by installing a series of digital kiosks across its network, including seven screens at five outlets in Coquitlam and Port Moody.

A total of 54 have been installed across Metro Vancouver, primarily at SkyTrain and West Coast Express stations, as well as bus loops and park and rides.

"Getting our customers information in the right time and the right place is a priority for us at TransLink," says Steve Vanagas, TransLink spokesperson, in a news release this week.

"These digital touchscreen kiosks give our customers access to real-time information as they are moving through the system. It's a technology upgrade that helps make journeys simpler, more seamless and more informative."

Information includes live alerts of any disruption to transit routes or immediate elevator maintenance.

Vanagas says the screens, which were fully covered financially by TransLink's advertising licensee, can also be used to plan daily trips and check updates to schedules and departure times.

The Tri-Cities' locations with digital kiosks are as follows:

  • Lafarge Lake-Douglas Station
  • Lincoln Station
  • Coquitlam Central Station (2)
  • Inlet Centre Station (2)
  • Burquitlam Station

The completion is part of TransLink's Customer Experience Action Plan for the next five years, 2022 to 2027.

As well, they add to the 280 new digital information screens overhead at SkyTrain stops with running departure times and alerts.
