VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Whitecaps have agreed to buy out the guaranteed contract of veteran forward Damir Kreilach, the club announced Friday.

Kreilach was scheduled to make his final appearance for the team later Friday when Vancouver visits the L.A. Galaxy.

The 35-year-old Croatian joined the Whitecaps ahead of the 2024 season after six years with Real Salt Lake, where he served as captain. Kreilach was in the final year of his contract with Vancouver, which carried a salary of US$495,000.

Kreilach made 31 appearances across all competitions for Vancouver, tallying four goals and one assist.

He appeared in three Major League Soccer matches this season, all as a substitute, logging 20 minutes and scoring one goal.

Kreilach helped the Whitecaps win the 2024 Canadian Championship and reach the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup final.
