WEST DALHOUSIE — The largest wildfire in Nova Scotia continues to burn out of control in the Annapolis Valley, but it did not grow overnight.
Nova Scotia's Department of Natural Resources says that's thanks to some rain that fell on Sunday night, but the province says conditions have dried up since then.
Scott Tingley with the Natural Resources Department says the Long Lake wildfire in the Annapolis Valley is composed of a series of fires that cover roughly 32 square kilometres of land.
Tingley says firefighters are focusing efforts on the northern side of the wildfire that is closest to homes near West Dalhousie, though he did not say how many homes are threatened.
He says crews with the Department of Emergency Management have been setting up sprinklers near houses while firefighters continue with suppression efforts.
Meanwhile, officials in Newfoundland and Labrador say the largest wildfire in the province has destroyed more than 200 structures including homes, a school and a post office.
