Opinion: The 8 most drop-dead stupid comments from our YouTube channel this week

Covidiots as far as the eye can see

There are a lot of ignorant comments on V.I.A.'s YouTube channel

If you're subscribed to our YouTube channel you've hopefully been taking in a lot more informative content lately thanks mostly to our new Video Reporter, Thor Diakow. However, you may have noticed that there are a lot of really, really, ridiculously dumb comments that pile up under certain videos that we produce and share.

Anything that has to do with COVID-19 acts as a magnet for people peddling conspiracy theories, and those generally inclined to believe that the pandemic is some sort of gigantic hoax designed by aliens and/or every single government on earth.

To get to a point where you don't believe that the pandemic is happening is, in a word, insane.

Yes, we are all tired of the restrictions being put on us. We all wish it wasn't this way. The good news is that most of us aren't dumb enough to go to a place of conspiracy to try to explain it all away so that we can roam freely, mask-less and perpetuate the pandemic. Us rational folks are the majority, in this together as a socially-distanced pack, but there are a few stray, rabid dogs roaming the alleyways behind our homes.

I went through a great deal of comments in order to round up some of those strays, and below I present to you the eight most drop-dead stupid mutts I've seen this so far week. They're all related to COVID-related reporting we've published.

Northern Hillbilly (definitely their real name) belches "people watch this video Covid 19 Vaccines are WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION & Could Wipe Out the Human Race" then includes "(Dr Vernon Coleman)" in brackets, apparently urging people to go check out some random video where a person explains a conspiracy.

Wooly Bully notes that we are "Mockingbird media and it's propaganda," with what is likely a small punctuation mistake there. Still pretty stupid.

User Jon Gee proclaims that it has been "1 year of S.C.A.M.-demic." I'm not sure exactly what the acronym is there, but it could be Stupidest Comment All March.

Zuzka Mudron chimed in with an all-too-common "Beee Beeee Beeeee" with a number of sheep emojis. In the world of COVID-deniers, sheep are people who believe science, and believe there is a pandemic happening. In the real world, those are considered "normal, rational people."

Our pal Wilfred Witzke has a bit of trouble putting proper sentences together, but he piped up with "anybody  ask whats in the vaccine  before they take  it might be  bad drugs  oh yea  no one is  liable  if you get  bad reactions  i wonder why that is  these are questions   people should be asking  and there not."

Brilliant.

Mister Jack Schitt thinks we are putting out "adds" (ads) for vaccines, and writes "Its funny that nobody in your vaccine adds say thay won't take the poison syringe . All lies"

The righteous Scanius invokes the bible and Tupac, telling folks that "GOD will deal with each and every single one of you perpetuating this lie."

Lastly, Carol B brings a classic, "It is a "shot" not a vaccine. Do your own research."

"Do your own research" is code for "I am a complete moron and I believe that watching 12 hours of YouTube videos created by non-experts makes me an expert."

Again, my apologies if you've been on our YouTube channel and you've dug into these types of comments underneath our stories which are meant to keep you up to date on the COVID-19 situation, and other stuff happening in your city. They are everywhere these days, and sadly we aren't immune to them.

If only there were a vaccine for stupid.
