While students at SFU are organizing a walk up Burnaby Mountain during the transit strike should a full shutdown occur tomorrow, a UBC student has gone a mile - or, that is, 13 kilometres - further and walked all the way out to the campus from his home.
Jonathan Harris wrote about his hours-long trek in a comical piece published yesterday by UBC's student publication, The Ubyssey.
In his piece, Harris notes that "walking is reliable. Walking is never cancelled. People have been walking for thousands of years."
He then breaks down some tips for others who hope to follow in his footsteps.
One recommendation he offers is that you shouldn't only bring school supplies but also "bear spray, a flare gun, a tent and an axe."
