Photos: Versace-inspired Vancouver house hits the market for $17.8M

A stylish new house has hit the Vancouver real estate market.

Inspired by famed luxury fashion house Versace, the recently completed house at 6615 Balsam St. in South Vancouver is listed for sale at $17.8 million.

The designers of the house went further than looking at a few pictures of Versace designs—they consulted with Spatium di Lorenzo Carmellini, an Italian architecture and interior design firm based in Milan, according to the real estate firm handling the sale.

Spatium has worked repeatedly with Versace since the 1970s and designed a variety of the fashion brand's sites including the Palazzo Versace Dubai (an opulent hotel based on Italian palaces) and many Versace stores around the world.

While Spatium only consulted on the project, the house on Balsam in Vancouver has a very Italian feel, with plenty of tile, patterns and decor accents. The interior designers set up the luxurious home with plenty of flair, as well, with items like a transparent piano, a gold chrome rabbit sculpture, and multiple pieces of cactus art.

Among the highlights are an outdoor pool with a tiled bottom, an underground window into said pool, and a rooftop putting green. It also has a home theatre, smart home system, and a private elevator to move about the three-storey building.
