I recently had the pleasure of being invited up to the apartment of Alex and his fiancée Katie (Katie was in Wisconsin) for a Sunday morning chat post-Lost Lagoon stroll.

Upon entering their humble West End abode in the sky, the first words out of my mouth were in regards to this handsome, plush leather love seat:

Note the handsome, plush leather love seat.

Me: That's a really handsome, plush leather love seat. Where did you get it?

Alex: In the alley, if you can believe it. But I am pretty sure I saw it on Craigslist first.

Alex went on to describe a minor concern in regards to the unwanted critter potential associated with discarded alley furniture but ... well, it's in their apartment now and it's all good.

The couch may be the nicest example of an alley find I have ever seen. Jef has written about his own alley and the things he both puts and finds in it, and I can only assume that there is a hierarchy of alley finds correlating to the area of Vancity in question.

Just the table, not the globe.

Alex went on to point out numerous other things throughout the apartment that were actually lucky alley finds, including the vintage two-tiered wood side table pictured above.

I have had some luck with alley finds in my neighborhood (Coal Harbour), the best of which was a matching set of largish ceramic plant pots in perfect condition.

Do you have any alley finds?
