This summer, Vancouver Heritage Foundation in partnership with the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association, will be celebrating the history and built heritage of Vancouver’s downtown core with a variety of pop-up exhibitions including live music and art. Join us at ‘The Perch’, the park at the foot of Hornby Street at West Hastings Street, on select lunchtimes to explore through the decades. The events will highlight the architectural legacy of the area and explore a different era each week. Coming up on July 11th is the first in the series featuring pre-1910s Vancouver. A lot happened in these years before and just after Vancouver became a city, including thousands of years of First Nations presence, the city's incorporation followed by the Great Fire shortly after, and then a surge in building as the area grew. This pop-up will include a gallery of archival images (including a few dating back to the 1880s), a musical trio including local fiddle-player Kathleen Nesbit, and a display of antique items from Space Lab Antiques.

Heritage Pop-Up is always free and open to the public so stop by on your lunch break to learn about the fascinating history and outstanding architecture of Downtown Vancouver.
