Rooftop Art

Summer is rad for so many reasons: beaches, bikinis, barbecues, bocce, popsicles, ice cream trucks, bikes, fireworks, more Seawall action and an even greater reason to have a ice cold brew in your hand.

Summer is rad for so many reasons: beaches, bikinis, barbecues, bocce, popsicles, ice cream trucks, bikes, fireworks, more Seawall action and an even greater reason to have a ice cold brew in your hand. It can also mean rooftop patio BBQs, like the one I had the pleasure of partaking in this last Saturday on the upper deck of 111 E. Pender in Chinatown.

It's also pretty nice when you get to look at some interesting graffiti, all while chowing down on delicious hibachi-cooked skewers. Something tells me someone was simply perfecting their craft up at this spot, given the way it was high and out of sight, but it's neat knowing that you're one a few people that have really had the chance to see its beginnings.

I like the big, haphazard splotch of pink paint on the ground, too, obviously evidence of a whoops-I-spilled-the-paint-can moment (and perhaps another reason -- endearing, of course! -- why I think it might have been a budding graf artist at work here).

Love a good little hidden art treasure!
