Vancouver Heritage Foundation is a registered charity supporting the conservation of heritage buildings and structures in recognition of their contribution to the city’s economy, sustainability and culture.

A key part in VHF's mission is educating the public about conservation of heritage buildings in Vancouver, and creating opportunities to learn about Vancouver's history. We have two great events in the last week of September where you can learn, ask questions, and enjoy an illustrated presentation about what has shaped Vancouver's architectural heritage, how it is unique and worth preserving.

On Tuesday evenings during the fall and spring, we present a series of Evening Lectures at the University Women's Club at Hycroft in Shaughnessy. Tuesday September 29th  from 7:30-9:30pm, Michael Gordon, Senior Downtown Planner for the City of Vancouver will present on the topic of Vancouverism 1954 – 1991. Michael will share stories of the emergence of Vancouver’s uniquely distinctive places and architecture during this period, illustrated with a wonderful collection of period images of Vancouver through these decades. Register  here. $15 adults, $9 students with valid ID. University Women’s Club at Hycroft at 1489 McRae Ave.

Wednesday, September 30th from 12pm-1:30pm join us for our first fall Brown Bag Lunch and Learn series held at BCIT Downtown Campus at 555 Seymour Street. Architect Sean McEwen will present Mole Hill: Preservation for the Community. Sean will share the story of how a City-wide coalition saved Mole Hill from the threat of demolition, to become one the West End’s most successful examples of heritage preservation. With an active lane filled with gardens and space to socialize, and a summertime Farmers Market on Comox Street, this high-density affordable and social housing project with a few privately owned homes is a successful model for creating livable communities. Sign up here. $15 or $9 with a valid student ID. BCIT Downtown Campus, Room 830. Check lobby sign to be sure of room number and bring a lunch. 1.5 Core LU’s AIBC.

Be sure to stay up to date with the rest of the illustrated lectures and talks in both series by emailing mail@vancouverheritagefoundation.org to sign up for our bi-monthly enews!
