BC offers something tangible to help families with the cost of raising young children—the BC Early Childhood Tax Benefit. Under this benefit, BC parents with kids under 6 could qualify for up to $660 per-year per-child tax-free. When you're first starting to raise a family, a few extra dollars can go a long way towards the health and well being of your children. See if you qualify for this service and others at gov.bc.ca.

For all parents, education for their children is extremely important. Our world is changing and that’s why BC’s education system is too. The new curriculum prepares kids for success through personalized learning. For example, students can learn technology, business, and coding at school by creating digital movies, online media content, and video games. No matter where in the province you live, there's a great school that's a good fit for your family.

British Columbia is a gateway for many newcomers into our beautiful country. What this means is that BC has a rich multicultural tapestry when it comes to the people, the experiences, the amenities, and the overall feel of its communities. By attending cultural fairs, events, and enjoying deliciously diverse foods, you can be sure you’re raising a citizen of the world.

Family-Friendly Communities

BC communities provide the programs, resources, and infrastructure needed to help young people grow and thrive. For example, the City of Surrey created a Child and Youth Friendly Strategy that aims to increase youth civic engagement, parks and recreation options, library services, affordable family-oriented housing, and more. Take the time to learn about all of the programs and services available in your community.

BC is the perfect place for families looking to spend time together in communities that have their best interests at heart. Whether you live in Victoria or Sechelt, Kamloops or Dawson's Creek, there’s a rich community for everyone in this beautiful province of ours.
