“Summer’s lease hath all too short a date,” but that’s all the more reason to make the most of it with an outing to Bard on the Beach!

Nestled in the breathtaking beauty of Señák̩w at Kits Point, the annual festival brings the magic of Shakespeare to life with unexpected and often hilarious outdoor performances. This year’s lineup is set to delight audiences of all ages – quite literally.

With two special Family Day matinees (July 13 and Aug. 17 at 2 PM), parents can introduce their little ones to the magic of live theatre without worrying about childcare. Children under six are welcome, making it a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a cultural experience together.

And what better introduction than The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again]? This fast-paced, laugh-out-loud production crams all 39 of Shakespeare’s plays into a single performance. Three energetic actors will take audiences on a whirlwind tour through tragedies, comedies, and histories—sometimes all at once. Whether you’re a lifelong fan of the Bard or someone who still has flashbacks to struggling through Hamlet in high school, this show guarantees a good time. As The Today Show puts it, “If you like Shakespeare, you’ll like this show. If you hate Shakespeare, you’ll love this show!”

But the fun doesn’t stop there. The 2025 season at Bard on the Beach also features the ever-charming Much Ado About Nothing, a witty and romantic battle of words between Beatrice and Benedick, as well as The Two Gentlemen of Verona, reimagined with a vibrant 1980s twist. Adding to the fun, the role of Crab will be played by an actual dog, the only dog role in the Shakespearean canon!

For those intrigued by history and untold stories, The Dark Lady offers a fresh and compelling look at Emilia Bassano, the woman who may have been Shakespeare’s poetic muse.
