#BCBuyLocal: Win 1 of 5 $50 Gift Cards from Amato Gelato Cafe

Real talk. Summer means indulging in sweet, delicious, frozen treats. Yes, there’s frolicking on beaches and taking in beautiful sunsets, but we all know those are just ways to pass the time until we’re ready for dessert again.

So where do Vancouverites go to satisfy their collective sweet tooth? Well, for the past eighteen years, Amato Gelato Café has been serving up scoops of Mario’s Gelati authentic Italian gelato and sorbetto from their corner spot at East 1st and Quebec. From under their iconic neon sign, the family-run business uses recipes and techniques passed down from their ancestors to deliver the freshest, most high quality product they can for their customers. While their Italian heritage, attention to detail and “service with a smile” disposition are all key components to what makes Amato Gelato so special, the most important ingredient is, well… The ingredients!

Yes, before it was even trendy to do so, Amato Gelato made an effort to keep things local: “The one thing that we have kept close to heart is the quality and consistency of our product. We use local BC ingredients whenever possible, which is, not only better for the economy & the environment, but also better for your taste buds… Wholesome ingredients are the key”.

So while their gelato and sorbetto is tied to their family’s Italian heritage, the product itself is also uniquely BC in its own right.
