Warning, this story might make you very hungry...

Located in Langley, The Fat Cow & Oyster Bar has a uniquely British Columbian sense of intimacy, punctuated by reclaimed wood walls, vintage chandeliers, dried flowers and the incredible smell of simple, flavourful, honest-to-gosh delicious food.

That’s likely because the Fat Cow is known for taking full advantage of the products harvested right here in B.C. From local produce to a drink list that’s comprised solely of local producers and purveyors of B.C. beer and wine, the Fat Cow is able to offer diners a stunning selection of sustainable seafood, locally-sourced prime meats, west coast oysters and boozy hand-crafted cocktails.

Stomach starting to growl? We warned you!

Leading the herd is Emmy Roper, who manages and co-owns the Fat Cow alongside her partner, Head Chef Christopher Roper. Roper’s approach to cooking is simple; use quality ingredients and cook them with classic techniques so that they are able to speak for themselves. The result is an exuberant menu featuring everything from fresh-shucked oysters to 42-day dry-aged steaks and most importantly, and the seafood boils, which feature pounds of fresh seafood mixed with potatoes, corn and spices. Ideal for sharing, these boils are guaranteed to be one of the most memorable meals you have this season. Don’t worry, bibs are included.

Their upcoming Dine Out menu, however, will offer diners something a little different. The menu, which includes three-courses for just $35, is a throwback to classic menu items they’ve had on the menu since the first iteration of the restaurant that opened 7 years ago. This means you’ll get to choose from dishes like Prawn Cocktail with Creme Fraiche, Cocktail Sauce, and Fermented Jalapeño, Fried Chicken with Bacon Scallion Waffles and Bourbon Maple Syrup or their wickedly decadent Chocolate Brownie, served with Peanut Butter Mousse, Raspberry Sorbet, and Peanut Butter Powder. You can view their full Dine Out Vancouver Festival Menu HERE.

For larger parties of 8 or more, The Fat Cow will take bookings at their family table where they can provide a $30, $35, or $40 customized shared tasting menu throughout the year. The team at The Fat Cow also operates The Black Radish Catering, which offers family-style menus, charcuterie, and fantastic canapes for weddings and corporate or private events.

Whether you’re craving delicate oysters or a soul-satisfying burger, be sure to reserve a table at Fat Cow this season. With the flavours of B.C. running throughout the entirety of their menu, it’s more than worth the trip.
