We all want to take steps to make healthier eating choices. However, we also want our food to be satisfying and tasty, right?

With a growing priority shift occurring in the minds of many, most consumers are more inclined to support brands that pair positive food decisions with conscious environmental choices that minimize carbon footprints.

As such, it's not entirely surprising that plant-based foods are seeing a massive surge in popularity.

If you're on the lookout for something that tastes good while also doing good, you're in luck!

Kove Ocean Foods is coming to Planted Expo, Canada's largest annual plant-based event hosted in Vancouver, to debut new flavours of their sensational Sea Spice from June 4 to 5 at Booth 316.

Snacks that make an impact

Launched last May, Kove Ocean Foods is the consumer food brand for Cascadia Seaweed, one of the largest providers of ocean cultivated seaweed, based in Sidney on Vancouver Island.

Kove believes that the foods we eat have a significant impact on the overall health of our planet. In response, their mission is to develop the tastiest, most delicious foods made with seaweed grown in the pristine waters of the Pacific Ocean while also creating economic opportunities for First Nations in British Columbia.

At this point, you may be asking yourself, "why seaweed?"

Seaweed is a carbon-capturing plant that grows naturally using only sunlight. It produces most of the world's oxygen supply and absorbs megatons of carbon each year.

But that's not all!

Not only is it a regenerative powerhouse, but it's also mega-rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making it good for both you and the planet.

Cascadia Seaweed is building seaweed farms all around Vancouver Island in partnership with local First Nations. Cascadia has 7 farm sites in 5 different territories and have noticed ecosystems coming to life among the seaweed farms. Birds, bears, salmon—these ecosystems are thriving because seaweed is providing an abundance of rich nutrients and helping to create habitat and improve biodiversity.

Get salty, but in a good way

Serving as its debut product, Kove’s Sea Spice is a signature seaweed seasoning done in a west-coast furikake style. For those who may not know, furikake style is a dry Japanese condiment typically sprinkled on top of other foods as a garnish.

The Sea Spice features Sugar Kelp flakes grown by Cascadia Seaweed to create an incredibly delicious natural flavour enhancer, helping bring out the unique and diverse tastes of whatever it’s added to.

Currently, the original flavour is available, but Kove will also be launching two additional flavours, Sriracha and Lemon, in June.

If you’re curious about which foods to try this on, the possibilities are endless!

Some popular choices include ramen, avocado toast, and poke bowls. It’s also been known to elevate eaters’ popcorn game to a whole new level and raise the flavour profile of salad dressings to new heights when mixed with a bit of olive oil.

Experimentation is the name of the game, and there are no wrong answers! Try it on your morning eggs, spruce up your starches like potatoes or rejuvenate your steamed rice.

Whatever you choose, a happy food dance is sure to follow.

Still unsure? Stop by Planted Expo and visit Kove Ocean Foods at Booth 316 to try it for yourself!
