Arriving in Canada in 2016, Afrina owner Ziba Tahmasebi decided that she wanted to take the successful all-in-one concept Afrina offers and bring it to Vancouver.
“I saw that the market was in need of a place where clients could come and have all their services under one roof,” she explains. “The concept we have in Dubai was lacking here. I wanted to combine this concept with alternative health. I put everything under the same roof.”
Tahmasebi and her team believe that inner beauty reflects outer beauty.
“We believe if you detoxify your body from the inside, you can get better hair, better nails, better skin, better energy, and live a better and happy life,” she describes.
At the heart of its mission, the team at Afrina strives to promote optimal inner beauty and health by assisting clients in pursuing wellness while also helping this reflect in their outer beauty.
“We also give extra importance to cleanliness and sanitization for the safety of our employees and our guests.” She emphasizes the usage of autoclave machines, vacuum pouches for tools and instruments, and, where needed, the use of disposables. The team also vacuums the towels and bedsheets after each client and sanitizes all equipment and furniture.
Tahmasebi adds, “when COVID hit us, we didn’t have to teach our staff of the new protocol of masks, face shields, gloves or sanitization after each service as we were already following them.”

A personal touch
The motivation behind Afrina’s vision is not just driven by client satisfaction, although that is the top priority for Tahmasebi and her team. There was a personal inspiration, as well.
Tahmasebi describes how she received a misdiagnosis of ALS that ultimately turned out to be Lyme Disease.
“I got sick in 2009, and the doctors couldn’t cure or diagnose me,” she explains. So, she decided to turn to alternative health solutions instead.
“I used all these alternative health services such as Infrared Sauna, Shiatsu massage and Lymphatic drainage massage, which we have at Afrina, to cure myself and now to help others.”
Comprehensive Services
