In Vancouver, we’re lucky to have some of the best food trucks around the city! The variety of street food vendors — serving everything from smokey barbecue pulled pork to handcrafted gourmet brownie ice cream sandwiches — gives us a lot to choose from during our lunch breaks and picnic gatherings with our social bubbles.
With Vancouver’s love of food trucks and a desire to support local businesses in mind, the South Granville BIA has announced the launch of a new outdoor dining initiative that will be running all summer long in the neighbourhood.
TGIFood Trucks — short for Thank Granville It’s Food trucks — is a fun pop-up dining experience located at Fir and West 10th Avenue on Fridays and Saturdays, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., starting on June 4th through to the Labour Day weekend.
Imagine dining outside with close-knit company while treating yourself to the delicious, locally-made food from some of Vancouver’s most popular vendors, including Salty’s Lobster Shack, Kyu Grill, REEL Mac and Cheese, Tornado Potato, Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck, Holimasala, Beavertails, Brownie Bakers, Shameless Buns, and more!
The food trucks will be parked adjacent to a generous greenspace with benches and picnic tables spaced throughout, so that everyone can safely meet and eat with their closest connections.
After you grab your eats, why not stay awhile in the South Granville neighbourhood?
With the installation of fresh new public picnic tables and chairs on the closely located Plazas on 13th and 14th Avenue, you and your squad can sit down and enjoy your meals before venturing around this lively boutique neighbourhood.
Make an afternoon or evening adventure of your visit by shopping or browsing at the unique boutiques and art galleries in the area, such as Goodge Place, Anthropologie, West Elm, Details by Mr. K, Bau-Xi Gallery, and Marion Scott Gallery.
And we bet you’ll find yourself craving a second lunch or dinner after passing by the many cafes, restaurants, and eateries, including coffee from Bean Around the World or Small Victory, gourmet burgers from Bin 4 Burger Lounge, the globally influenced Rise Eatery & Breakfast Table, or healthy goodness on-the-go from Heirloom Juice Co.
For your chance to win a ‘TGIF Foodie Gift Package’ (valued at $150) — including credit to spend at the participating TGIFood trucks, a bottle of Rosé, a beach towel, and a bespoke South Granville bag — enter our Instagram contest in partnership with the South Granville BIA at @viawesome!
